Welcome to Brewood Chess Circle.
A friendly village club, serving chess players in rural South Staffordshire, in the UK.
Some of our members play simply to enjoy a good game in pleasant company; others enjoy the thrill of competitive league play.
But even when we have nothing planned, you can normally find at least half a dozen members in the clubhouse: Some will be experimenting with different openings etc., while others are either involved in a friendly game or competing in one of our tournaments.
If you are interested, our clubhouse is open from 7.30 pm, every Tuesday evening of the year (except Christmas week and the month of August).
Feel free to drop in and pay us a visit anytime.
If you want help finding the clubhouse, we've got a map.

League
We currently run three league teams:
In the Wolverhampton League, we compete in divisions two and three, while in the Cannock League, we compete in division three.

Tournaments
We run 5 of our own tournaments. The Championship has the highest status. It is played over 6 rounds, with one round per month. The Ladder and Handicap tournaments are less formal. They let you decide how involved you want to get. The Quickplay and Lightning tournaments are held on one evening each.

Family
Although we meet to enjoy chess, we try not to forget members family. The club has organised theatre trips, boat trips and cross country rambles etc for members to share with their family. A Christmas luncheon is also held annually. Rumour has it that the topic of Chess is banned from these events.
